oh it's great to see your photography again, Barb! I missed it! And New England in the fall---probably the most beautiful and sustained fall on earth. It's like oil paintings, for weeks...
These gotta be seen full size for their full beauty. Love the variety---pumpkins in front of those beautiful colors. (You have wonderful juxtapositions here.) Then a typical N. England mound---MA has beautiful low mountains, and that pic gets their bear-like presence, like slumbering furry animals. The road's a perfect frame too---(I assume you were driving there). Then rich reds amongst pines. You have colors there that look like they've been powdered on. (Pines never turn, right? That would be a sight wouldn't it? You wake up and all the pines have turned purple?)
Then the last one---rusty yellows, with god-knows-what in front of them! I thought 'file boxes'---but then I saw they were---what---bureaus? W/ ROCKS on top. An ancient ritual? Or maybe the owners don't want the tops to fly off...love the juxtaposition (good eye work!). (Btw, you ever drive on vermont highways? 2 lanes---one each way---and all curves so you can't pass for miles; and some 900 year old farmer (they live forever) with a 1940 pickup carrying CHICKENS, who's traveling 1 mile per hour---these people ain't goin' nowhere!---and you're honking and screaming and they ain't budging. Arghhhhh! Those old n.englanders would look you in the face, tell you what they think, and not flinch. I was convinced they were made of granite. w/ a lotta "eee-yupp's" and such. Do they still exist? Have we lost them?) You can post photos anytime, Barb. Hope the colors last till Dec...

the boxes with the rocks are honey bee hives, the rock just holds the removable covers on. pine trees don't turn colors, sometimes some of their needles turn yellow and drop off but most of the tree stays green all year. yes, New England still has farmers who drive their livestock in old trucks on the highways. (some things never change)

Lenord
Those Punkins look big enough to play tackle football
goldie
Wonderful captures! They make me miss autumn up in the Hudson Valley. I see the apiarist avocation/vocation is alive and well in your area :) Did you manage to buy one of those gorgeous pumpkins?
bakapo
I didn't buy a pumpkin, these were huge and probably the reason they were left in the field. lol
the colors are nice this year, last year there was very little color.

Curious do they let those pumpkins grow till the vines completely whither away? There appears to be no vinage or vine clutter at all.
bakapo
good question. this was a pick-your-own farm so I assume the withered vines were pulled up and discarded for customer convenience. if the vines are left to rot it can spread a mold disease into the soil, too. people were rolling the pumpkins around to get a good look at them, that's why they are oddly scattered. these pumpkins are large.

very beautiful landscape and trees
elleque
Beautiful! They are all fall colors. Why are the pumpkins scattered? Do they become dried vegetables to making pumpkin powder?
bakapo
the pumpkins are scattered because they are huge and heavy to carry. this is a pick-your-own farm so customers can go into the fields and choose their own fruit. people roll the pumpkins around to see all sides of it and then decide if they want to buy it. I do not know what the farm does with pumpkins no one buys; probably they are left for the deer and other wildlife who live in those trees.

I want the third one to the right, behind the second on on the left, four rows in. :D I have not carved a pumpkin in years. I really should make a jack-o-lantern!
UteBigSmile

"Autumn In New England 2022" by bakapo sounds like a beautiful collection of landscape photography capturing the vibrant fall foliage of New England. The region is renowned for its stunning autumn colors, making it a favorite subject for photographers. These photos make me want to go to New Zealand and experience autumn here, not forgetting to indulge in spectacular drifts in my favorite game drift boss.
