Description

Render Engine: Firefly Characters, V4, M4 The only model in this scene is the boat and people as you can see in the second raw image. The background is a projected image using the spotlight, the water is an ocean texture map projected down using a spotlight and the water turbulence behind and beside the boat is another foamy texture map projected using two separate spotlights. The boat was covered by the ocean texture map image, and I used another five non-image or white spotlights to wash the ocean image off the boat. The second image is the raw image before rendered and this is how it looks before rendering in Firefly. The third image is rendered in Superfly. As far as I know this only works using Firefly. That is why I use Superfly for some projects and Firefly for others, as well as cartoon effects for other projects. The last image I just thought the beach looked kind of bare, so I added people in Photoshop using PNG transparencies. lol. The shadows were a little bit of a challenge but there is a little trick to it. You can use the spotlights like a collage by projecting various different photographs beside or on top of one another adjusting size, intensity and falloff. I have made several scenes like this in years past, but this is the first one ever posted. Thanks for looking and I appreciate your comments:

What you have done with projected images is amazing...this art work breakdown is so well done! I have never used a spot light to project images in the way you have, I have only used them to project a silhouette of a shadow against a surface or through a volume light perhaps.

Thanks for the tip, I am going to have to try this sometime in the near future. Your speed boat work here is outstanding! :-)

Thanks for your comment: Glad you can see the potential of this option.

In the material tab you just need to select the spotlight and click the plug icon next to color>new node>2D Textures>image map.
