Description
I'm a little frustrated.
Broke up this render after two days, because it crashed two times before at this long render time.
Still not sure what exactly increase the render time that long and why DAZ close himself while the render is still in work.(atmosphere?)
It's not exactly the picture I had in mind, but it seems I'm not able to get it better. :(

Hi, with iray, correct lighting plays almost the main role. It is also important which types of light are used. Endless light e.g. almost always leads to fireflies. I try to get most of the light through hdri's, but there are also huge differences. Often the hdri are much too big (nearly 100mb and more, reduce the resolution with an image editing program). Iray is extremely resource-heavy and you need good hardware (nvidia for gpu render and a lot of vram). In the picture it looks as if some kind of atmosphere is being rendered. Such effects cost a lot of computing power and take a correspondingly long time. But in my experience, as I said, the lighting is crucial. If not, deal with it a bit :) I hope that helped a little... You are right in all points. I think the atmosphere and the low light was the big killer. Maybe I have should tried to render with a brighter light and reduce it later per post work, but in the moment I have laid this scene beside and work on some other scenes.
