my younger sister had covid and recovered, but it returned and she is quite ill. . friends in Austin area had covid. both are ill. my son, brother,sister all had covid. I called my son earlier and he was almost gagging. He was loading their belongings, to move closer to wife's mother. luckily where he works gives the employees off days for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

back when I was working for a district office, I was able to get extra off days also. when it came time for a holiday, I was requested to work the day after. I mentioned that I was getting those days off. it did not work out for me.

Well, I for one cannot accept that so many images should be posted in one day! It is a sheer impossibility for every single image of the 25 mentioned to be noteworthy. So, why clutter up the galleries with nonsense?

You must be joking, Rod... Promotional content and gallery flooding is encouraged and over the last few months it is out of hand and the reason why I stopped posting. What's the point for one to create when people favourite and give thumbs ups to promos and products while ignoring what takes some of us a long time to do ? Fortunately, on other sites this is not a problem. I hope your wife makes a full recovery.

And I really, really wish some of the Admins and Developers would read your words here, my friend. It's up to the "Higher Powers" to make positive changes (the Mods' powers are pretty limited, it seems). Apparently, it's all about the God-Almighty $$$ - never mind the fact that losing members is losing potential income for the site. I could probably buy a small car with what I've spent here over the last 12 or so years.

I'm done posting about it either in the forums or the galleries. BUT.... I am NOT giving up, and I am NOT leaving. That feels too much like surrendering to the spammers and flooders. And I have too many friends here to even consider it. No... I will keep posting my art, my TNA story, and maybe even squeeze in a photo now and then. And I'm certainly not above a subtle Easter egg now and then! :)

The irony of this comment is that I only found your work after looking in a different gallery. I've only been on Renderosity for a couple of years and love seeing different works but as you said in another of your comments, things get pushed off the bottom of the New Art gallery so I miss a lot. I try to be as interactive with the artists/photographers whose work I really enjoy. I don't do it expecting anything in return.

Anyway, I love the quality of your work and the sentiment behind it and another similar meaning of your previous works. :)

An eloquent statement of something I have long felt; that a daily post limit is in order, and that promos should be filterable to avoid the deluge. I no longer browse "what's new" because it takes far too long to wade through the dross when I only have a couple of hours a week free to devote to Rendo (and I'd rather be creating than browsing visual spam) ... which is unfair on new artists whose work is worthy but get gets lost in the noise. I suspect that might have something to do with the radical falloff in numbers of views my own work gets... 60ish used to be the norm and these days a new page of Skytown is doing well if it gets 20. Rather disheartening. My honest opinion is if this continues, ppl will get fed up and leave. It's telling that the same works posted on DA get view counts in the hundreds...

Same here, Joe. I used to regularly get at least 2 pages of comments. I can't remember the last time my work broke 30 comments. I honestly don't know WTF whoever / whatever owns or runs the site is thinking. It's starting to look like a 'soft porn' site with some of the content being posted lately. Between that and the constant floods of promotionals and look-alike photos of the same stuff over and over, it's driving many long-time members away, and discouraging others (like you and me) from even bothering with it any longer. It's the main reason my "short hiatus" has been much longer than originally planned.

This site is in the intensive care unit, and if someone in charge doesn't change the medications soon it will die a slow death.

I really think RR should have a separate gallery for multiple submissions (anything over 5) esp for those which repeat the same image. Let the rest of us have our art galleries, and leave the multiple-same-image people have their own. Listen: Rembrandt---not exactly a slouch---did his deepest work in his last years. I mean these paintings were deeply reflective, and very moving. But...it took time to get into them, time to receive all he was doing. But....while he did those masterpieces, the popular painters of his day were churning out popular landscapes and portraits which sold in the average market, and out shadowed ol' Rembrandt like a huge forest blotting out the sun. And Rembrandt---once revered---fell into anonymity and near starved.

Now is this my way of saying we have a bleak future? God forbid! (Thanks Mark for the encouragement!!!) No---what I'm saying is, being eclipsed by the gamesters, the unserious and the trend seekers is as old as the hill. I wish websites would make separate places for the multiple image people, but in the meantime, you're facing what lots of artists have faced from the beginning. You have a right to complain. I sympathize.

I like the deep brown and red feeling of the image. The dark shadows. Charlie's posture and quizzical tired pose (tired of the s---t she sees). And the angles and composition of your image. Love the little cupcake---which looks like a clip holder! (I thought it was edible, dammit!) And the late night feel. And your subtle hinting "renderlotsame". Just keep on giving your best, you will always be a mountain next to those hills. I'm sorry it has to be so frustrating. (And I know less than 30 comments is a real come down for you and others. In 2D and Photography, one's lucky to get 12. It's just all upside down. Do these multiple promotional people get noticed? Does their "flood tactic" work? I wonder. I've never looked. It would be really ironic if, after all that uploading, they got 3 comments per image...)

Most of those 'image spammers' don't get any comments at all. Honestly, I think they either have a deal with certain vendors, or are just going after the points for gift certificates for posting - or both. This site sadly is now all about commercialization rather than art. Sad.
