Unfortunately, yes, and I am well aware of this historical incorrectness. This is due to the fact that I do not own any Commonwealth helmets in my content. Let's just consider the picture as a non-historical document, but as purely fictional... GIs training on a borrowed gun.
If I hadn't nudged the tank in the background so far out of the DoF, the next thing you'd see clearly is that it's a Sherman tank....

Captured Sherman's while rare were used so that could have happened. In desperation Germans used about any iron coffins available.
