Like how a lot of them have raging storms around them - maybe why they are run down? :)

It wouldn't surprise me. Here in the North Sea we do have storms with waves over 20 meters high, those can easily reach towers and oil rigs. In the old days, the only way to reach the different floors was to climb a ladder outside... For me, that's like, okay I gladly be a coward,... A DRY coward! LOL
