Description
I believe I can officially call this The Render That Took Forever And A Day! When I was first going to render this image, it got 107 hours in (71% done), and then I had to restart my computer (long story). I then started again, this time with a lower quality, and it took only 61 hours! I still have a very high quality render going on another computer, so in 260 hours, when it's finished, I'll re-upload it over this lower-quality image.
My actual goal for this image was quite different than this. It was originally going to be more of an on-land setting, but after working with it for a day or so, it became clear that the angle I wanted was completely impossible. That is why I decided on this! I do hope you like it!

An original and interesting work, nicely done. The render looks fine to me. Dave

Beautiful!!

Excellent scene and cloud detail
innerdreams
nice scene, maybe you could make it less complex by using alpha planes.

I like it. Well worth the render time to do it high quality. I'm anxious to see the hq one, although I really can't see anything wrong with this one.

Thank you all! :) Innerdreams - I thought about that, but decided to go with the real meshes instead because 1) I wanted that genuine, volumetric light, and 2) I'm stubborn! Thanks, Lin, I'm looking forward to the HQ one too! ;) ~Aaron

nice job!

I like this very much; did you use terrains to make the clouds? They came out great.

Very interresting idea! Great realisation!

The clouds are wonderful, how ever did you do them?
TheDaedalus
Thanks a lot! The clouds were made by putting together many, many little spheres. I then started with the standard cloud material, and tweaked it until it looks like it does now! ~Aaron
