Description
Grace hovered over the stacks of presents and the brightly decorated tree. "These electric lights so fascinate me, Elizabeth," the ghost said. "There's a feeling to them I can't describe that I rather think a living body can't appreciate. And of course, they are as pretty as the candles of my time and much safer!"
"Is Grace with us?" Dorotea asked. Under most circumstances the ghost could only be seen by Dorotea's sister, Professor Elizabeth Van Humbeek.
"Yes, indeed, Tea. She's admiring the tree." Elizabeth sipped her hot mulled cider. "I've always enjoyed this moment of quiet on Christmas eve. We'll have plenty of noise and happiness tomorrow when my students and the staff join us here to open presents and celebrate."
"This is what I missed most while I was travelling," Dorotea replied with a smile. She sipped her cider. "And yet, so much of the world remains unknown to me."
"I'm so glad you are here for however long you choose to stay!" the Professor said.
"I'm glad she's here, too, Elizabeth," Ghostly Grace told her embodied friend. "You have been happier whenever she's here."
Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered in Poser 12.0.1029 using the Superfly Cycles 2 rendering engine and tweaked in Photoshop. The ghost is composited using Photoshop. All three figures are based on the La Femme mesh included with Poser. The room is a very old piece of content by Sixus1 which I think came out pretty well with some texture tweaks (except for the fire...😣). There's a lot of bits and bobs added to make the living room of the sisters' living quarters within the Van Humbeek Manor seem "lived in".
A continuity note: You may be following my story "The odyssey of Vladlena B" which is now at 35 installments. If you are, N.B. this is not set in that moment in time. That story is set in the Summer of 2022 and will be largely resolved by the time this picture occurs. This picture is meant to show the Van Humbeek sisters on Christmas Eve 2022, many months later. I will include no spoilers as to how things work out for Lena.

Very nice work Love the way the ghost fades within the length nice effect
MollyFootman
Thank you! The ghost was composited in using Photoshop. I'm not sure why I like her fading as you get further from her head and torso but it was a deliberate choice. I'm glad it pleases your eye. =)

lovely warm scene with them chatting. now i want some hot chocolate.
MollyFootman
Thank you, my dear. I enjoy doing "slice of life" pictures of my characters outside of the stories of them I illustrate. Heh. Hot chocolate coming up! =)

Love IT! Love IT! Love IT! Love IT! Love IT! Love IT! I even love how you incorporated the Roman Head Bust Statue fron older Poser and put on the shelf. All around great job and the story is fun too.

Thank you! Actually the whole room is older Poser material that was available from Sixus1 on his website. The product I reference is an update of the content he did for DAZ Studio but I wanted to plug his material even though it seems he has moved on from Poser and possibly from content creation altogether.
I'm glad you enjoyed the story, as well. These characters feature in a lot of my picture series (stories).
