Great scene between man and dog!

So sweet! Dogs are so awesome! I dog-sit for a family friend, whose German Shepherd is quirky, to say the least. He's not well-socialized, and we think he was abused before the lady who owns him got him from a rescue. He's very skittish around strangers and downright aggressive toward men. The lady used to own a kennel and breeding facility before her health forced her to sell, and my folks used to work for her and board their own dogs with her. When my Mom's health prevented her from house- and dog-sitting, they asked me to take over. Within about 10 minutes of meeting the dog, he was licking my hand. The lady and my folks were all shocked, he had never "taken to" a new person so quickly before. The last time I stayed with him, last Fall, was the longest period ever ... three weeks! Before it had always been a week to 10 days. Every night when I'd go to bed, he'd jump up there with me and lay down, but after awhile, he'd jump down and go sleep elsewhere. This last visit, he did something he'd never done before, he would stay up on the bed with me all night. A few times, when I'd wake up during the night, I'd find him laying back-to-back with me, with his head on the pillow! It really touched my heart, and I read that when a dog does that, they 100% trust the person and consider them part of their "pack." Of course, I love that dog, and he's always been excited to see me, and very affectionate, but this last visit I think really sealed the deal for him. I only get to see him once or twice a year, so I really cherish the time I get with him.

Sorry if I went on too long about my puppy story, but this picture reminded me of that last visit. I am looking forward to seeing him again, when the lady takes her annual 1-week vacation in July. That three-week stay was a cruise she took with her family, that had been postponed for 2 years due to Covid. It came to a point where they said she had to use her cruise credit, or lose it.

Sweet story. My dogs always sleep with one. I have two. I figure each could sit on either side of me. But no! Sophie had to always sit the closest. If Sasha sat on one side, then Sophie would squeeze in between us. Alas, they are both gone now.

And now I have two other sweeties.
