Description

Pixie and Brooke arrived at the Farmhouse on the Van Humbeek estate which served as the "Ladies Dorm" for grad students working with Professor Van Humbeek. "That was Gregor's crate pulling away," Pixie said. "That means he must have just dropped off Vladlena! Dang! That was some interview, I bet! She's had a long day!" "Yep," Brooke replied. "She's probably really hungry. She's gonna enjoy the pie and salad, I hope!" Pixie's eagerness to spend some time with Lena was palpable. Brooke sighed. "You know, Pix, she might just need some down time." Failing to take the hint Pixie continued, "I can't wait to get to know her better. She is so..." Words failed the petite girl. "Well, I can't wait to get to know her!" Brooke, unseen by her enthusiastic companion, rolled her eyes as she turned the little car and slowed before the gate into the barn yard. "Just get the gate, Pix, OK?" Molly's story notes: You might remember we last saw Pixie and Brooke buying a pizza and salads. The picture is in my gallery at the link below: https://www.renderosity.com/gallery/items/3082007/30-interlude-pixie-and-brooke It was posted a bit earlier than it would have occurred in the timeline but I need a bit of a break from the action at the Van Humbeek mansion. It would have occurred around the time Gregor and Lena left the interview. Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered in Poser 12.0.1029 using the Superfly Cycles 2 rendering engine. Patricia "Pixie" Dust is based on Project Evolution by erogenesisCGI and Brooke is based on Dawn with modifications by Tempesta3d. Their tiny car is from Truform and the farmhouse setting is by BlueTreeStudios. All of this content is available here at Renderosity. If you would like more detail on the content, just ask! Thanks, ED! I wasn't too pleased with the lighting in the car but I wanted you to be able to see Pixie and Brooke and lighting the interior of a vehicle in that fashion is a cheat that is used in the movies all the time. XD

Outside the car I used a VERY light atmosphere volume turned on so that there would be a hint of the flashlight beams. =)

Great lighting effects in this marvelous image, Molly! Love the storyline progression as well! Cool dialogue enhances the setup for what is to follow! Many fine praises from me to you on all aspects of this creation!

Thanks, Rad. I find illustrating a bit of dialogue less challenging than laying out a comic book page but perhaps I'll get back to telling stories that way. In the meantime, I'm so pleased that you are following the story in this format. <3

I'm with eekdog - the car's interior lights seem a bit vibrant but how else would you be able to see the characters with that camera angle. The headlamps work well with the use of the volume - they're a lot more than clouds and smoke :)

That internal lighting in the car was difficult and I finally surrendered... perfect can be the enemy of good enough. I think it would have been easier if I had not tinted the windows of the care. >.<

I'm getting a lot more confident with the use of atmospheric volume for subtle effects as here with the headlights. It's a journey! =)

Thanks for the comment, I always enjoy hearing from you, JD!

Thank you, Anne. It seems I've been telling this story a bit at a time forever (38 images at this point) but in terms of time within the story it's been a single day: about 10 very busy hours. XD
