So I totally missed that I wasn't including these images in my gallery. That's my bad. This is created using Poser to arrange the figure, then I trace that figure in Photoshop. Then I draw the clothing and all the extras and BANG! Got me a character concept.
This was used to create a miniature for Freeblades - a miniatures skirmish game. I've been creating these for over 10 years. Maybe it's 12.. I'm old and don't remember. The reason I use Poser is so that I can create images from all sides which assists the sculpture, and perhaps I'll show that in the future. Some of my efforts for this fantasy world were included in a book titled "The Art of Making Fantasy Miniatures".
Anyhoo, the point being, you don't need to use Poser just to create "finished" figures. It's incredibly useful for setting up photo-like shots that you could never get. Or even photo-like shots that are easy, but would require someone to help you out. Poser does almost everything my camera did 30+ years ago.
Back to the illustration. I was assigned with creating "Gandalf". Hello! Never done that... cough. I've recreated this iconic figure dozens of times over my career, so that part was not a challenge. How to make it original... that was the challenge. So, I gave him a cool lantern on his staff, lots of folds in the cloth, and lots of details. It's still Gandalf, but I think it's a cool take on the character. You can head over to dgsgames.com and check out the mini to see how it turned out.
