I worked in a bakery before leaving to college. they allowed the workers to eat what ever they wanted. they knew after a few weeks the employees would not be able to stand donuts. to this day, I do not eat donuts. The bakery that I worked for was operating as if it was the 1930's instead current time.
they kept large barrels around the bakery to place any products that fell on the floor. they would grind it up and place on top of the massive ovens to dry out. then it would be used for replacing flour.

My father in law worked at a bakery as his first job! Making 40 cents an hour. Tough on the lungs he still says, all that flour in the air.
