Some Firefly render tests - a couple Poser 12 Firefly renders for my dear friends.😊💖🥰
I have no idea how relevant this test might be or not but I can tell from my tests, rendering volumes with GI/global illumination in Firefly takes
obviously much longer render times. The rabbit hole seems deeper than it looks like..😊💖🥰
Backgrounds provided by my daughter and she also made the other two characters, I just tried a fast rigging on them.
The Tree House was in my Poser 12 content, it's AppleJack's tree house.😊
If any render fits to nudity renders, please proceed and check the nudity mark for me. If you let me know, it may take longer..😊💖🥰
1st - La Femme Firefly render
2nd - La Femme Firefly GPU render test - 93 seconds render time.
3rd - La Femme Superfly CPU render test - 993 seconds render time.
4th - La Femme Firefly GPU render test - 93 seconds render time.
5th - La Femme Firefly GPU render test, rope shader improved - 128 seconds render time.
6th - La Femme 2 characters plus 2 others, Firefly GPU render test with volumetric shader - 539 seconds render time.
7th - Previous scene, Firefly GPU render test with volumetrics and GI/global illumination - 4 hours render time.
8th - Previous scene, Firefly GPU render, volumetrics, GI and minor render settings improvements - 4 hours almost render time.
All are plain Poser12 Firefly and one Superfly renders.
No postwork, never ever.

I like the third render, darker skin and a shine on the swimsuit 993 seconds. I've still yet to try poser.
Might install it tommorow and have a look. Looks like volumetrics take the most time, same in Daz.

Four hours is longer than I would have patience for, but thank you for doing the test! They all look pretty great, I have to say my favorites are the ocean scenes, because I miss the ocean! It looks so beautiful in your renders.

Firefly, eh? I will have to say that all the images look OK to my eye (I understand that they are test images and not meant to be great art). One thing you mention is using the GPU for rendering in Firefly; I confess I did no know that was an option. I know it is for Superfly and it vastly increases speed to use the GPU but Firefly? Hmmm. Will have to look into this, Marius! Thanks for sharing.

What GPU..?.. hmm, ma' big mouth...
Anyway it reads as well GI.., yep, it seems to be possible. I haven't read the Firefly manual though, I only assumed it might be a renderman compliant render engine, so I've got the idea of feeding it some code..😂
The Superfly CPU render test was fed as well couple cereals, I assume it didn't get too fat. I had to make sure and monitor only the CPU was chewing the bits and bytes..😂

I was sharing my daughter screen while she was creating those characters for me; she was saying and the face should look like.., this? no?, chin like this? and the jaw.., and you say she must have bones, ha?.. and I assume you prefer the.. which format to be exported?.. How were you able to get Firefly to use the GPU card when there is no option to select an NVidia setting for it in Poser 12 ? Firefly renders use the CPU exclusively. Superfly lets you select your card or your card with the Optix option which speeds things up even more as Molly pointed out. I have an app that monitors GPU usage. If Firefly would be doing the render only 1% is being used, same as 99% of software not using a GPU. Firefly renders use 100% of the GPU and that's why I don't use Firefly. It defeats the purpose to have a GPU card that can't be used with Poser.

Well, I was playing with Firefly and I've thought I found a parser. Just like the Avatar's used "Tsaheylu" - a Na'vi word meaning "bond" or neural connection - I slowly started talking to it. Afterwards I tried to monitor the GPU activity and see what food it prefers when playing. Some vitamins weren't helping too much and I thought I was using the wrong syntax; obviously for a bonus, couple syntax items were misspelled. This is the short story.
"Papa Jobs" - or Steve Jobs as people knew him - was a true master in creating a bond through "Tsaheylu". He early understood one can never talk to the walls, so you will always see him in his conferences truly communicating. His conferences are free to watch on youtube and I can afford that. If my blurbs make no sense, bear with me, english is not my mother language, nor a 2nd or 3rd spoken language where I live.
