This is, in my opinion, my best piece so far. This is a tribute to James Gurney and his “Dinotopia” book series, a series that was very dear to me growing up. I have always adored dinosaurs, and these books presented them in such a sweet, peaceful, beautiful light! The artwork was extraordinary, and helped shape my ideas of what I wanted my art to look like. Now, I am reading the books to my own daughter, and she loves them too! So I thought this was the right time to try my hand at a humble tribute to Gurney’s amazing world. I worked on this piece off and on for over a week, putting many, many hours into it. It’s not perfect, but for now I feel like it is a good showcase of some of the different tricks I’ve learned with Daz Studio and (postwork) with Pixelmator. Rendered in Daz Studio Iray.
