I am the author Lyle Aryn. Writing is my first love, my one true passion. Every since I was able to string a sentence together, it's all I've wanted to do. Websites where you can find my work and more are below.
I started using Daz Studio October 23rd of 2018, just as something to dink around with. I'd been signed up with the sight for a while, and would occasionally remember to check for freebies. I was surprised at what I had when I finally loaded up the program. I just started playing around with it, figuring it out. I'd say about 92% of what I've learned in the program I've learned just by playing around with it.
In December I went from being a dutiful son looking after his mom, to the full-time, no nights or weekends off, caretaker of my Mom. As someone who struggles with depression, anxiety and a mood disorder or two, this change has had a drastic impact on my own personal care and well-being. I turned to my blossoming love of doing digital art as a way to cope with the mountains of stress on my shoulders. I do miniature painting, too. But when you haven't slept in 4 days, handling a brush can be very messy. Not being able to paint to my own personal satisfaction was making this avenue of relaxation increasingly frustrating.
Daz Studio has an undo button that you just don't get with painting miniatures.
As my skill with the program grows, so does my confidence. I did the cover to my fifth novel, "Because the Night" using Daz Studio, as well as new covers for two previous releases. (Though they haven't been updated just yet.)
I'm looking to always improve my artistic work, no matter what the medium, and Daz Studio is no different.

Great job on the moody and slightly mysterious lighting you've used here. An excellent artwork.
Trust me.... I'm right there with you.. I spend hours - sometimes days (especially with the TNA pages) in Poser and Photoshop because I enjoy the process, and it relaxes me and relieves some of the stress with all the bulls**t going on everywhere.
At one point not very long ago I considered just saying "F" it, and not posting any longer - just dropping out and forgetting it. But that would be like giving the AI thing an easy victory, and admitting defeat. And I don't do 'defeat' very well at all. And folks here seem to enjoy what I post even with all the AI crap.
I just re-joined 'Rotica after a couple years' hiatus.. I need to post there and DA more.

The NICE thing about DA is that you are, by default, excluded from being used by AI algorithms. So anything posted there SHOULDN'T end up feeding the beast, so long as that option is on.
I'm confused as to why a company that literally sells render software would allow AI-"art" submissions. Seems at cross-purposes. And every time I go to the gallery I've got to wade through too much of it. Should at least be an option for the user to exclude AI-generated content, so if we don't want to see it, we don't have to.
There's a few "authors" starting to use AI-generated stuff, too. Giving the machine a prompt, and then giving it an edit and posting it. It's garbage, but if they spend just a little money on advertising they end up turning a tidy profit with little work. Especially since they can handle most of the editing with grammerly. I've been naysaying grammerly for years, and with this new stuff thrown into the mix... it's disheartening.
On a brighter note, I have started writing again, albeit slower than I would like. Still a lot of stress to manage, but when I get in a decent writing sessions the words still flow.

I say no to AI, but don't get discouraged by that. If something looks remotely AI generated I look at the tags, if no tag, then I just ignore the artist.
Very nice lighting you set up in this image. The emotion on her face is fantastic.
