Description

Jaimie had taken several strides away, when Jerry caught him by the arm and rushed him back up against the library book shelf. "What are you...doing?" Jaimie stammered in complete surprise. Jerry held him there, and gazed deeply into his eyes. Flustered, Jaimie glanced away. Undeterred, Jerry, gently turned his head back and lifted his chin. "Remember,...I told you," he said gently. "The good part. This is it. This is where....I...kiss...you." Jaimie's eyes went wide and he pulled back a little, as Jerald closed the distance until their lips touched. Moments later, Jerry opened his eyes as he became aware that Jaimie was just standing there, Not kissing him back. So much for the good part. Jerry started to step back. Then suddenly Jaimie grabbed him by the front of his shirt and pulled him in again. This time Jaimie was kissing him. Kissing him with hungry lips. Kissing him over and over. It was unexpected. But Jerry immediately leaned into it. Somebody yelled, "Get a room!" The librarian slapped a ruler against her desktop. "Hush!" she hissed in a muted voice. "And you two," she jabbed a warning finger, "that will be quite enough of that!" But her eyes were watery and her face wistful, as if she were envious, not angry. Like she was imaging herself there with somebody else as opposed to seeing someone else fulfilling her dream. Flushing, the boys began to stumble toward the exit, finding each other's hand on the way. And all the while, the librarian's eyes followed them as she pressed her fingers to her mouth. At the door they stole another kiss before tumbling out into the sunshine. And the librarian looked on with a tear trembling in her eye. "one day," she murmured. "One day"
