Description
Long ago, in the days of the Colowonian Empire, some doctors experimented with extending life by transplanting human brains into robot bodies. The experiment was a failure; most of the patients died, and the majority of those who survived went insane. Only about 1 case in 20 could be considered in any sense a success. With those results, the procedure was abandoned as unethical.
Fear makes people desperate, however. And when desperation is coupled with wealth, there will always be a few unscrupulous individuals to take advantage of the situation. And so when Queen Merciya was nearing the end of her life, she found an unscrupulous doctor and took a chance. The 1 in 20 odds came up, and Merciya awoke from her surgery perfectly sane and in a robotic body; young, strong, beautiful, and with the prospect of living for millennia. But she hadn't taken into account the fact that, on that world, robots were property.
Nobody now remembers Queen Merciya, just Merciya the pretty robot servant. Having outlived almost a dozen owners, Merciya has already been a slave far longer than she was a queen. And although nothing built by humans lasts forever, Merciya is likely to have many more centuries in which to regret her choice.

Some days, when I see how crazy and dangerous our world can be, I'd dream of another experiment : transplanting robot brains (if this exists !) into human heads !!! That said, your image is superb.

Very ironic indeed! What a chilling story to go along with this beautiful portrait. Immortality clearly comes at a high price!

Great render, I really like the reflections, the general lighting and the cloth! The composition is really cool. And the story is really telling. What good is immortality if you spend most of it slaving away and regretting what you've done? Not to mention she probably has perfect recollection of all those years as well.

Wonderful render, and a great story to go with it.
There are definitely a few folks around who's brains should definitely not be transferred to a robot body... They're already insane!

A very different render. It's just surreal how the figure's textured. I'm also quite intrigued by how you place all those patterned lights on the figure.
Very sad story. Can only hope she eventually finds an owner who will be really nice to her!

Nice piece of art with nice reflections and a absalutley brilliant story to compliment your art.
Didn't expect the ending of the story.
Fantastic :-)
