Description

Thanks to gab-mag who allowed me to use the photo of his uncle's house as a model (see the beautiful original here of you are interested http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=307607&Start=1&Artist=gab%2Dmag&ByArtist=Yes) This 3D version is far away not as good as the original , I know, due to the textures probably. But that is the biggest project I ever done. I used Vue d'Esprit 2.1 for composition, Ray Studio 3D for most of the models, no postwork . I also used Varian's dead tree, some free vegetation from the web (Varian's also). Hope you like it

Hmm amazing pic, very realistic too. I think u have done a marvelous job, and all the time u spent makin that model was worth it. I hate to be a critic but I think u could have done a much better job with the windows. Excellent image though.

agree with the windows. I think this is a great image. especially the house on the far hill adds a very nice depth. great work

Aren't those shutters on the windows? They look good to me, and look sort of like the photo of the old house on the link you gave. This is a great house....has character.

Great! I'm glad and honored to see that my picture inspired you so good: I like general atmosphere, the look and the trees; good modeling job too, I'm amazed! Only one thing: if you'll try a texture more "older" for the home, to me this could be perfect. :)

Very good rendering, but it looks like a shuttered house to me. These windows seem painted, and the scene looks utterly lifeless (some open and warmly lit window would have helped)

Great rendering for me. It seems a radiosity pic. Can you describe us the lights and atmosphere settings? Bravo !!!

Lighting and modeling is excellent, as always. :-)The main problem is texturing. If you really want to get a 3D-version of gab-mag's photo I think you have to repaint or resample both house- and ground-textures because the photo gets a big part of its beauty by the uniqueness and the mess of its surfaces.

I think the lifelessness is as winter. If you had made the windows transparent then you would have to model what was in the house or put blinds or curtains in all the windows. I am reminded of the clever ways that cities have tried to hide the fact that structures are not ocupied. Great Work. Excellent composition. You have seen this one through.

Thanks for the comments ! I agree for the textures of course. Although textures are light killers, so I often prefer to have simple tex. For the light, there are several sources, following photography lighting main priciples : One directional for the main source (sun), 2 spots to illuminate the front of the house, one for the back light. I always use soft lights. Thanks again, I should think to try to improve when courage will come to me again ;=)
