Description

This is the front page for chapter one of a project I started back in 2019. Until that point, I just used Poser for doing fanart or "quick and dirty" renders of characters for various pieces of fan and original fiction that was usually based on various RPG settings (DC Adventures/Mutants & Masterminds, Shadowrun, Battletech, and Aberrant). Certain events and the attitude of certain people in charge of certain IPs made me decide to pretty much stop doing fan related stories and artwork, especially when I realized I had enough original ideas and concepts that I was throwing them away when I used them in my fanart and stories. After talking to some other people who were doing their own digital comics based on their own characters, I decided to go original and try to learn this weird program called Comic Life and even explore how to actually use Poser more effectively. Of course, having a day job meant my time was limited and I did have a life outside of work. Then the LOCKDOWNS came and let's just say Governor Jay Inslee wasted no time in making everyone's lives suck in my state. Thankfully, my job was considered expendable...er...ESSENTIAL, so I was employed but pretty much stuck at home when not at work. So I had some time work on this project and I spent the next few months coming up with new story lines and some new backgrounds for some characters (Gabriel. David Flynn and Zoe had to have their origins re-worked since they were no longer OCs for some fan-based project). Other characters didn't need that much changed at all (Bomber and Slapstick's origins are pretty much the same, but you won't be seeing them for a couple weeks). After doing some world-building, I then started rendering panels for this project. I then started posting this story over on DeviantArt (which I still am, but I'm looking for a new place since DA is becoming harder to navigate), but never thought about putting it here. Until I stumbled on this article here: https://www.renderosity.com/article/26772/creating-comics-with-renderosity After reading this article, i figured "Oh, what the hell, I might as well post it here for fun". At the very least, people will get some laughs at how terrible my stuff is, but hey, I'm learning. Just keep in mind that I'm an amateur at this. I would like to think I've improved and will keep improving as I continue to post stuff up, but only time will tell. And honestly, I don't consider myself an artist. I'm just a crazy guy who can't draw to save his life and is using 3D tools like Poser and DAZ (eventually) to tell his crazy stories. I that crazy guy who uses virtual 3D generic action figures, accessories, and playsets, customizes them to what he wants them to look like, throws everything together, renders it, runs it through GIMP, and then uses Comic Life to put the panels into something resembling a sequence or story. That being said, I just want to say thank you too all the vendors whose stuff I've purchased and used for this (and will keep using). I know it's a long list and I can't remember everyone, but I will shout out to the main ones who dominate my purchase list. Shawnaloroc, Applejack, Vanishing Point, and Blue Tree. I get a lot of my set and props from you and I just want to say thank you. SAV, Mighty Mite, Shaft73, Hameleon....a lot of your stuff came in handy in making my characters as well. I know there's many others I can't remember, but I just want to say thank you to you as well. Anyway, back to the comic. This first part is mostly exposition and providing some background about this world and the general setting. Granted, it's eight pages long, but I hope it's not too boring.
