Description
The Germans in 1944 attacked across a broad front trying to cut the Allied line and push on to Antwerp. The 101st airborne were surrounded and cut off at the Belgian town of Bastogne which had 7 roads in and 7 routes out and was vital to the Allies. The paratroopers earned the nickname the "Battered Bastards of Bastogne." The town was finally relieved the day after Christmas by Patton's third army and the 4th armoured division.
