I love music. All kinds. Like books, it's always been a refuge for me. To me, music is visceral. It affects you immediately. Like a good book, it tells a story. Even when there aren't lyrics it creates a tale and images in your brain. Like I said, I love all genres, but I have used some specifically for their effect. Like, trance or dance for my workouts, and tactical practice. I always used NIN's music to pump me up before a mission. And then Bach fugues after, to cool down and try and forget. Sinatra, Orbison, Zeppelin, Queen, Bowie, Metallica, Eagles, Parton, Swift Eilish, Adele, just a few. Music is fuel, it's comfort, it's pain. We each create a soundtrack for our lives with it.
