Description

Here's another of the new spiderhunters... The Naked-faced Spiderhunter is called so because of the featherless patch of skin around its ears and in front of its eyes. It is endemic to the Philippines and is found in forested areas, forest edges and scrub and clearings, particularly around plantains. It drinks nectar and eats small arthropods (spiders). It appears to prefer Philippine lipstick vine flowers and is a known pollinator of that species. There are currently about 602,000 mature individuals left with a stable population trend. It is uncommon in most areas. Habitat destruction is a concern.

This is wonderfully done! The spiderweb is a natural looking addition for the hungry Spiderhunter!
