BIO
This site is a collaboration between myself and Alexander Graham. Alex is someone who answered my call from a place, though far away, so close to my heart, and we work together towards the same goals with a shared vision of a better world, not just for a chosen few, but for everyone, everywhere. And we work for an understanding that there are other points of view and other opinions, and that open debate, along with all the other principles America was founded on, is what turns that diversity of perspective and prejudice into a strength instead of a weakness. That is what our work is devoted to: a better world for our children's children's children.Thank you for taking the time to visit.. Alexander and Lynn

A truly excellent end result. Well done.

Great tune, but it's not about getting stoned! Not long after the song was released, radio stations began banning it on the assumption that the "high" in "Rocky Mountain High" was a reference to marijuana use. Denver later testified in Congress, stressing that the song was simply describing the high one gets from experiencing the beauties he experienced. So much for the freedom of speech. You decide:
He was born in the summer of his 27th year Coming home to a place he'd never been before He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again You might say he found a key for every door
When he first came to the mountains his life was far away On the road and hanging by a song But the string's already broken and he doesn't really care It keeps changing fast and it don't last for long
But the Colorado Rocky Mountain high I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullaby Rocky Mountain high (Colorado) Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below He saw everything as far as you can see And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun And he lost a friend but kept the memory
Now he walks in quiet solitude the forests and the streams Seeking grace in every step he takes His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky Talk to God and listen to the casual reply Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado) Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)
Now his life is full of wonder but his heart still knows some fear Of a simple thing he cannot comprehend While they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more More people, more scars upon the land
And the Colorado Rocky Mountain high I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky I know he'd be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly Rocky Mountain high
Colorado Rocky Mountain high I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky Friends around the campfire and everybody's high Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado) Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado) Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado) Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado) Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado) Rocky Mountain high (high in Colorado)

Thank you for your input...I would never think of him as 'smoking', but I was told by someone else so I went with it, sorry if I offended you...I think everyone just assumed the lyrics were 'trippy' because they do fit that image of 'hippie' days very well...once again assume strikes a blow!

Thank you for keeping an open mind. I didn't take offense. Smoking may be going on, but it's not the message. I just wanted you to hear it straight from the horse's mouth. Imagine having to testify in Congress about the meaning of your music! Things have changed, and now there are songs about killing cops. Rocky Mountain High does have a special meaning for me; I'm on a similar path but was born in the winter of my 55th year. I forgot to mention that I like your rendering and hope to see more!

what a fascinating dialogue above...I was never sure what the song was about either...but PCottontail seems to hit it on the head---ie, that it's about just what it 'says' it's about: About the high one gets from the beautiful landscape. But it seems that was your impression too: You were just swayed the other direction by what everyone else said about the piece. (As was I.)
The image is a knockout, Lynn, I love those deep luminous purples (purple mountain majesty?), and the darker purples in the sky and clouds. And you have this subtle frame---in fact, two--framing the image as if we were seeing it in a mirror, or through a window. The light on the peaks is beautiful, the mountain is as much light as rock, and I think JDenver would have loved that. I'm only back for a comment in each gallery tonight (I need to not do too much right now), but I've seen all your images, and, as always, you continue to post some of the most unique images on the site. (Loved the dancing shrimps---they actually looked like figures from a 1930s Busby Berkeley film---think "Lullaby of Broadway"---with all those art deco figures stretching back for miles. Love it, as I do this image, and all the others. I hope people are zooming your work, it really jumps off the page full-size. I hope you're doing well, Lynn, and that life is treating you with the respect you so deserve. I wish you all the best...I hope summer's heat is being kind to you...

What a nice surprise! Good to see you here Mark, even if you are just passing through...glad you added your own thoughts to the dialogue above...to be honest unless PCottontail had given that info I would not have put it into the proper context Another lesson learned about not to 'assume' anything...your comment about purple mountain majesty was the other way I considered as the title...it just seemed to fit JDs song...Thank you for the visit and comment and please stay well!

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to listen to this beautiful song I'd never heard of, living so far from the New World, in my old Europe! Your illustration of it is full of softness and sweet nostalgia, and it uplifts the soul and brings in serenity. Well done !

I laughed at the song by Merle Haggard we do not smoking weed in Muskogee. when I went to visit my sister's grave in Muskogee, I seen at least 4 to 5 stores before I was able to get into a motel room. who knows? maybe Willy Nelson smokes it all
