so someone told me to look into this TERRAGEN software -- renders look better than my old Bryce 7 Pro, but not sure if it allows all the customizing of materials like Bryce did .. almost looks like I was at a local watering hole somewhere and getting ready to launch a boat.

Thanks - have you played around with TERRAGEN yet? It is free and the menu items are a tad bit like POSER.

Actually I paid for Ulitimate True Terrain for Blender. Awesome addon.

Looks nice - I'll see about that one as well .. learning curve on Blender for me as the menus get so darn "overly complicated" and hog up so much of the screen, but I do use it here and there for some editing and converting items for 3D Printing.
