I imagine that one of the soldiers has just shouted "Angels at 12 o'clock!", and the guard captain, who's never seen any old black and white WW2 movies and doesn't have a wristwatch, is rather confused.

Oddly a picture of a helicopter with a very long pike chasing the guard captain popped into my mind. :)
