He's so adorable! I can see where that would be a difficult pose. This is another example of using the IK links to your advantage. Turn on IK for LEFT HAND, and use the X, Y, and Z settings to move the hand into position. Leave it locked in IK while you make adjustments to the other segments of the arm until you have them positioned as you like, then unlock the IK for the hand. Make the final adjustments to the hand, and you're good to go.
