Description
First, an explanation (and you DON'T have to comment on these---there are 7 in all):
After many talks with friends across the world, I wanted to do a series on street kids---their plight, their devastations and their dreams.
I have shots of Chicago, but nowhere else...So when I got AI (through Photoshop), I asked:
Can it give me kids from all over the planet? Can it provide me with what I need?
Here are a few results. This is a "test run"...I hope these speak to some of you. I hope to do these with real photos one day...it would complete something I've wanted to do for some time. The stories I've heard are heartbreaking...but I'm working on the transcendent too...my specs:
The kids and cities are all AI.
The treatments are all mine.
Each image took me about an hour of work...My prompts were from all the continents, incl mine...
(Please see these full-size if you can, only because the visions are clearer that way.)
Thanks for your visits as always! Health and inspiration to all, mark
(thank you barb ((bakapo)) for your encouragement...it's truly appreciated)

Well done! A touching and emotional set of images. AI works well here; the not-quite perfect faces and buildings hint at an even deeper emotional toll. Also, the mix of children and poor cities shows struggle but also camaraderie as the kids gather together. The last image of the blue lake feels hopeful to me. I hope the children of the world know some people do care. I'm glad you are doing, and sharing, this series.

thanks so much, barb...you helped me feel right about posting these...but then you help in all kinds of ways. And thanks for your wonderful comments as always! Enjoy your weekend in god's country. (To me, n.england is god's country.) (Even without Friendly's...) Stay well, and thanks again. Stay cool!

These are some powerful images. Perhaps someday children won't have to live in such horrid conditions. It's good to see you posting, and I hope all is well with you.

My goodness Mark, you have come a mighty long way in a short time! Every one of these is marvelous, so much emotion, you've poured your heart into each one, an extremely poignant and important message...I apologize for being late to visit, my kitty disappeared and left me tired from searching and so very sad (as you know I would be) but finally today about 5pm I found him and all is right with the world again! He was sleeping when I found him and my heart sank as he looked as if he was dead but he just was tired and hungry and his usual loud voice was soft like a whisper...he is sleeping now with a full tummy and lots of purrs...I am beyond happy! Great job with the AI, I have quit trying it, I just feel like its not really me making the image...so great luck to on you next project, can't wait to see it!

That new AI in Photoshop is pretty amazing. I've played with it a little bit, and for someone who's not all that enthusiastic about the whole AI "thing," I'm pretty impressed. I'll be doing more with it....
And then I see these images and am totally blown away! As with anything else you create, the PS AI becomes magic in your hands, Mark. These are so full of raw emotion and power! It's hard to imagine what it must be like living in these conditions. These images just grab you by the heart! Fantastic job on all of them!

These are amazing photos that evoke the broken lives of children all over the world, and that remind me very concretely of situations I have seen in my trips and treks in Asia or South America, where children have to learn to become adults very early, and not always in a very pragmatic and thoughtful way. As far as the use of AI is concerned, I admit that I still don't have the kind of open-minded attitude that most of the artists on the site have towards AI. It is a question of ethics and artistic committment that so far has not encouraged me to use this mode of expression in which human beings sort of abandon their personal creativity to stunning algorithms of ingenuity, but which too often end up giving almost stereotypical results. I don't blame those who praise AI and confide their potential or creativity to it, but so far, my weakness is that I haven't yet come to terms with this fantastic means of expression. Still, I reckon that I am quite impressed by what you 've posted here because I know, since I read it above that you actually took part in the creative process of them, and this is what matters most to me, after all !
