Description
"Shadowheart stood in front of her tent, her graceful body silhoutted in the glow of the Grymforge. She had been unable to embrace sleep as her companions had, because her mind was filled with so many thoughts that were unfamiliar to her.
Things had changed over the last two weeks; SHE had changed. Where once there was only room in her heart for complete and utter devotion to Lady Shar, there now burned a space of warm light, a space where new and strangely enticing thoughts competed with her long-held wish to become a Dark Justiciar. She had started her mission alone, needing no one else by her side, and now... now she had, what? Comrades? Friends? Something more? Was she actually hoping that was so? Hope was dismissed by the followers of Shar, had long been dismissed by Shadowheart, and yet here she was, carefully pulling hope back into her life.
Even as she asked herself how such a thing could have happened, her gaze drifted to the tent where lay the answer to her question. The tent where the one who had saved her from the Illithid ship now slept, the same one who seemed to have saved them all, somehow, and helped forge the bonds of fellowship among them. They were a collection of broken, damaged things, but each in their own way was becoming something more, due in no small part to this one among them, who was just as broken, just as damaged as any one of them... as Shadowheart, herself, was.
Now she felt a desire for something she never considered; something she never believed she had the right to possess, and this was why sleep eluded her. Was wanting such a thing a betryal of her devotion to Shar? Or could she have both? She felt her heart flutter as her eyes rested once more on the tent of the one who was part and parcel of her new desire, and said a silent prayer to whatever gods would listen, that the roll of fate's dice would grant her what she had so long believed would be forever beyond her reach."
Yep, I'm deeep into playing Baldur's Gate and Shadowheart is a favorite (as she seems to be for so many others).
Thanks for looking!
