I imagine it's easy to issue those orders from behind a desk, for the men in the field it's usually something completely different.
Sorry I've been away, I've been dealing with my first (and hopefully only ever) bought of "Lyme Disease".

Not all hells are hot. Lots of cultures' Hells are really cold. For all we know, these guys are frozen solid but you'd never know at a distance.

My thoughts as well I, actually intended for the Pepesha gunner to have "frozen over" ... I just wasn't sure how conspicuous to make it. I read that it was so cold (-40 below) the troops fighting off the the Nazi's invasion during the Russian winter had openings sewn into the back of their trousers because if they pulled their trousers down to relive themselves they would freeze to death in less than a few minutes. I thought that was horrible enough until I read that the German's didn't even have proper winter clothing. It makes me wonder and a little angry when I read about how many men have died horrible deaths just to feed or counter the ambitions of powerful men and the financiers that back their brutal aspirations.

The German film "Stalingrad" gives you a good "taste" of things. I'm pretty sure you have seen it, but posted here as a recommendation to other users.
