Is that contraption the ubiquitous Victorian "mangle?" I've always wondered what they might look like. A recurring conceit in the novels of the late Anne Perry was a well-to-do woman volunteering to do charitable work at a hospital and discovering how hard her servants worked. Inevitably, she was assigned manipulate a mangle to squeeze excess rinse water from the bed clothing she had washed.

Yes, that is correct :) I would imagine that they would require a fair bit of arm strength to use, that's for sure ;)

I imagine this aparatus very complicated and painful as an "Exit"! ;) Very good lighting and bloom!
