Description
In my freestuff promos I use a version of V4.2 I re-made using Notepad++. It has very few mat zones,19 versus 29, it contains only the morphs I use. This means even on my old computer it loads like lightning. It takes only a few minutes to load new textures by hand. Most of the ones I left untouched are for eyes and mouth. This means 10 texture maps, 10 bump maps less. In making a new M4 I now have even less files to load...fingernails, toenails, were combined into the 'arm'/legs 'limbs' texture group.
It took around 2 hours to make from the original V4 .obj file and the original CR2. The figure CR2 is now around 10Mb, compared to a normal saved version unedited of 43.5MB. For making poses, I made a V4.2 version containing only the bones, no textures, this is 1.33MB. It means very, very small pose files that need no extra editing tools. The picture gives only three examples of how useful this free tool is. I use it a lot, it has reduced my runtime MB size enormously. Always make copies of the files you want to edit first!
My thought was that if fewer numbers of maps were used, it should reduce the render process time.
I copy and paste inj pose files that I use the most into one file. I don't have to spend time 'hunting' for them!.
It will open an .obj file very much faster than most geometry editing progs I have.
