Description

I had a few folks ask if I still had the image I was working on in my last post. Honestly, I don't know if the original paper images are stashed away, but I do have scans. This first image is the line art that you saw me working on. The second was just a variation and a combination of real airbrush, and digital airbrush in an earlier version of Photoshop. The final image was put together in Photoshop. There were a few years in between the original you saw me working on, and the later 2 images. I thought I had an airbrush version in between the first and the later 2, but maybe not. Radar's comment on the previous post reminded me of a funny story regarding my propensity to create images with pretty (mostly minus clothing) ladies.... I've been doing it since my adolescence. I used to "borrow" my Mom's Sears catalogs (remember Sears & Roebuck?), and use the women's underwear pages as reference. The drawings that resulted were usually minus the underwear - which my Mom hated! Fast-forward to my high-school days... Yep, still drawing naked ladies, only by this time I'd moved up to color with my massive box of Prismacolor pencils. By this time, I tried to keep them out of Mom's eyesight. I'd move them around frequently to keep her from discovering them. Then one day, I had the "brilliant" idea of hiding them in my underwear drawer. Mom always put a couple layers of newspaper in the bottom of the drawer, and it seemed a perfect place under the newspaper to hide the drawings. Until, of course, Mom changed the newspaper. After coming home from school one day, I entered my bedroom - and what greeted me had me rolling on the floor in absolute hysterics! There, covering EVERY wall in the room, Mom had taped all those drawings!! At first, the sight of me laughing my rear off didn't please her... But after a couple minutes, she couldn't help getting a smile on her face, then kind of chuckled at me in tears. I didn't realize I'd created that many.. Anyway, after that, she kind of eased up on me a bit - which was a relief. So there you have it! LOL Thanks so much for stopping by, and for all your comments and support! It means the world to me! great story, and gosh, thank you so much for posting these scans... i love just the plain simple line drawing the best, though that chocolate colour is just gorgeous, too...

you're the best, and were you here, i'd give you a little kiss, on the cheek of course, so tell Jo not to fret... ;)

Damn #0%!45 awesome drafts, the final image is way too gorgeous. Keep them coming, Rod. Sketching and drawing always feel great. Leftie is just fine, you should start use them both for drawing. In the long run you might notice it's not that stupid idea.๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฅฐ

Haha! I'm beginning to wonder if we all don't have similar stories! One critique: her eyes are set too far apart. Other than that... It's fantastic! I hope you share more!

So, you were an adult artist? The kind that didn't involve working IN FRONT of a camera?

Fun story, Rod. I can't exactly relate as I've not been a young man... =P On the other hand, it's always a lot of fun to learn how the other half has lived. XD

A fantastic memory and story of your youthful artistic days, Rod! I really enjoyed reading it! Glad your mom realized your potential and let you pursue your career in your one special way! Once you got into digital art, I think perhaps it was more difficult to paper your bedroom walls anymore? LOL! Marvelous images you share with us! Thanks so much for them and your story!
