Description
Rashiya stood motionless before the control console. Silence hung heavy in her small control office. Her eyes held on the small blinking light on the sensor screen. So many of her hopes and dreams had been placed on the small ship. She had worked for two entire cycles; building and fashioning each piece with her own hands. Her Father and the Slavers had tarnished those dreams. Crushing everything under their heels, smearing the legacy of her name and her ship.
The blinking light seemed to flare a bit larger for a moment, then vanished. Not only was she now free of that legacy, but so was her ship. Never more to carry the name of Slaver ship. She had salvaged as much as she could before sending it on its last flight.
"Blue!" The speaker chimed with the Captains voice, sounding a bit urgent.
She hesitated for a moment as she switched the control console to standby, then touched the intercom button.
"Engineering, Captain." She responded with a renewed alertness to her voice.
"You and I are going to have a little discussion about keeping me informed of future actions." His voice carried a tone of relief, even though a little stern at the same time. A faint smile touched the corners of her lips.
"Understood, Captain." She responded softly. "Just something I had to take care of."
"Understood." His voice softened. "In two hours, alert Sil, and the two of you meet me in the cargo hangar." He added. "I have a little project for you. Captain out."
The channel went silent.
"My home." She turned to the window and stared down over the engineering deck below. "My Captain."
