As Star Trek is set in the 2600 year I don't think any of us will see it for real. I have never yet worked out what Warp speed is. the nearest I can think about is Light speed.186.000 miles per second the nearest star to us the good old Sun is at it's nearest 92 million miles away or 8 and 1/4 mins away at the speed of light. which means if the anything happen to it it would take over eight mins before we would see it. The next nearest star is if my memory serves me right over 4.2 light years away a space ship at 10 times light speed would take more than three mths to reach it, The star group that they want to go to is over 90 light years away so lets say they get a rocket to move at the speed of light and lets forget about the time it might take to get from the lunch pad to the speed of light and the time it might take to slow down again stay there for lets say one year, then come home u 'll would be looking at 181 years in total.. Every one you know would be dead. Even at ten times the speed of light u'll be 19 years away I say forget that
