Description
Back to playing with softboxes and I'm an idiot. My softboxes are basically no different than Poser's area lights, with the very small advantage (sometimes, although an annoying pain otherwise) that they are visible in the scene. Makes it very easy to see and manipulate their relationship to each other, as in Main Light and Fill Light.

I really like your art and how you set up the lights ^^ Can I ask you, how did you create this softbox light? Btw.. my boyfriend is a photographer and ans he watched over my shoulder at your images he was asking if you were a photoprapher ^^

Yes, and I am so delighted by your questions. I owned a small photography studio for about thirteen years, doing mostly in-studio work plus, of course, weddings to help pay the studio's bills, a hobby grown to an obsession, all while remaining a senior software developer at the same time. I had to close the studio during the dot com crash.
The softbox is functionally no different than a Poser Area Light. It's just always visible, whereas an Area Light is only visible when selected.
I created it by taking a normal cube, shrinking down one dimension until it's basically a flat panel, then using the Grouping Tool to turn one surface into a named material. That material is then edited in the Material Room, using the material definition from ABRCandle out of the Poser Library as a start. I can't post images here, in a comment, or I'd show you more details. I will try to send you a site email later with details, if you want them. Minor bit of work putting together such an email, so let me know if you're interested. I don't mind at all writing up the email, but only if you would want the details.

I am sorry you had to close your studio :(
.... the Poser lights making me cry at the most time while I am searching them in my working area XD
Uuuuuuh yes of course, I would be very appreciated for the details for the softbox. I really like the soft light. During my first shooting my bf was explaining me the different lightenings on his equipment and showed me the results on my photos. I think to learn from a photographer how to "shoot" in 3D is a treasure trove of knowledge :D
Thank you so much for taking the time for me :)

Wonderful portraits! Now I know why you are so good at lighting!!!! 🤍

For me, the lighting is where the magic is, which is a good thing as actual posing and propping is really hard for me and I'm lousy at materials, whereas I do have a bit of experience with lighting.
