Interesting. No sure what setting you're going for, you know I'm a post-apoc nut.
qualifier: (no actual commentary on actual slaves past and present - the institution is an abomination all-round)
So purely post-apocalyptic point of view, anyone who would treat slaves so lovely and valuable in this way does not deserve to have them. I will raid their compound shortly and just take over. and they could then judge their former owners. I'd free them and integrate them into my community if I could, or give them whatever surplus I have if they truly just want to go, and after that raid I'd probably have enough surplus.

I thank you kindly for your comment, I agree that all slaves are not treated with respect, here I just wanted to show the other side of this dirty coin! Even the ancient Vickingers raided entire villages and kidnapped men, women and children, some of whom they sold on as slaves, a.s.o., a.s.o.!!! Thank's, last monday I was in a special eye clinic in Germany (just 30 minutes from my home) my eyes are OK, just age-related deposits on the outer edge of the pupils, no need for lasering yet, I just need 2 perfectly fitted glasses! 😊👍

Sad thing is, the only way to eliminate slavery is to elimanate humanity as there will always be some ogre trying their hand at it, and somebody unfortunate enough to suffer for it.
Laser isn't the worst thing Ute - but don't do it 'till you need to.
