Years ago, there was a scientific study on facial recognition, with regards to neoteny (retention of juvenile characteristics into adulthood). It was basically, what to humans consider "cute". Large eyes set wide apart (though not too wide), small nose, etc. The model they came up with, well....if you would put ears on it you'd have Sanrio's Hello Kitty. This was before the cute cat was on the scene, so somebody over there must've read it. Anyhow, you're putting similar principles to work for you here and you've hit the mark. Well done.
