Mariabot was the first widely distributed domestic and companion, and Kara is the very latest (from Detroit).
The V3 android was quite popular until the Mariabot arrived.
Though most people like to have a 'clever' android like Kara, many pensioners are quite content with the older model. On the death of the pensioner the Mariabot can opt for reprogramming and reassignment or retirement to a care home with other older models. Some companions have been included in wills and even left houses.

A dear companion is like family, bot or not. Not really sure if they see the value in being included in a will, but I'm sure the sentient ones will for sure appreciate the loving thought / final gesture.
