Dig it, as I've seen a few cowboys 'n dino flicks back in the day.
Advantage: Raptors are dang fast with lethal claws and bite, and probably want the horses as their prey. They're running, and have lots of meat on 'em. The passengers would be dessert, especially if they panic. Even if they take the horses, it would just be a waiting game as water runs out for the passengers and they have nowhere to go but on foot.
Disadvantage: .44 long colt is a powerful and beefy round, especially at close range. The passengers would also be pulling their pieces, peacemakers, Winchesters and the occasional gambler's derringer, and that's something that those varmints don't have an answer for. If the stage is hauling a strongbox, the extra stagehand would probably have a double-barreled shotgun, and those ain't pretty.
