Description

After my last pic I really got into texturing. I might have overdone it this time. My MacG3 B/W on OSX proved to be the worst choice for rendering a bitmap-heavy scene like this. It actually chrunched (litterally) for almost THREE weeks on this. I know 3 people who are very happy the thing is finished... Nothing you see in this picture is real, or exists in the real world. A short list of the ingredients: The picture on the boxes is a VectorStyle rendering, collored in Illustrator. The logotype and print are created in Illustrator as well. The degrading was done partly in Photoshop, partly in Carrara (by putting different bitmaps in shader channels). I used scans of the back of old books and the brushes I downloaded earlier. But a lot of standard handpainting with standard handbrushes as well. The round sticker on the side of the box and in the front of the image is a VectorStyle render of figure that was posed in Poser. The wrench was added in Carrera. A lot of now rather invisible line tweaking was done in Illustrator. The lighter was moddeled in Carrara, the plastic that encloses it was made with a height map in Bryce, then imported in Carrara. The same route was taken for the small 'BrainTools' logo on the filter. The boxes were rather square (with a bit of stretch deforming), so in post I added irregularities to the harsh edges and, some holes and some wrinkles. The larger version shows more detail and has the form of a self-promoting ad for The CommunicationGarage. To inspire my fellow communichanics and who else.

Very nice and imaginative work...I especially like the colors, the textures, light and shadows are also very smooth

Lately this is one of my favourite works in this gallery, i like the realism and the attention to the details. Good work!

This is really good work. As a Carrara user, I can appreciate the difficulty level of this piece.
