I am a traditional 2D artist that has slowly moved into 3D modelling, 3D & 2D animation/video. Even though I have been doing it for a few years, I am still learning many things since I started out. I create characters based on some of my old 2D sketches, or sometimes from photographs of family and friends, and naturally others from my own imagination and magazines. My Bio picture is based on an old photo and sketch of me from a Halloween party from years ago for example - I removed the photo as I didn't realise how HUGE it was when you click on Bio!!!!
I also create content for my language business and online shops; and I undertake a limited amount of commission work
My interests are in Archaeology because it's old like me. Culture and History because they are important.
And above all, kindness and honesty because there should more of that in the world.
I don't have social media accounts dedicated to my art because my business takes up a lot of time. However, I have been a deviant art member for many years.
I started with Poser a number of years ago but at the moment I'm doing quite a lot using Reallusion software. It's definitely a learning curve!
Thank you for looking and comments and constructive criticism are very much welcomed! I will always do my best to acknowledge comments, because if people take the time to comment, then I think it only right that I take the time to acknowledge that.

Very nice. I liked the Charleston the best.
Mediacandy
Thank you! I'm really pleased that you like that one. I've been researching like crazy and enjoying trying to create something at least a tad similar! Your comment is very much appreciated π

Where I live they do a lot of country line dancing. Doesn't look much like your country dance, but then I suppose each region of the country does it differently.
Mediacandy
Line dancing found it's way here quite a while back, and it is incredibly popular in the UK. And there are loads of clubs. I like Line dancing but I don't know how to do it, so I can only watch others. I want the characters to be in better sync though, because Line dancers seems pretty precise. I'll research more on Line dancing. Thanks so much for that feedback, it is very helpful ππ

Love all the dance sequences! My favourite is the first set because I really love that vintage old movie effect going on and the older form of dance. Very fun and well done

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your comment. I'm glad you have a favourite. I love vintage also. Planning on going a bit further with that when I get a moment π

Awesome job on making these animations...I'm with Ladylake on choosing the first one as my favorite, everything about it looks amazing! It sets the tone just right, together with the excellent thumbnail you used. I was impressed on how well the second and third animation looks on both couples as you have the cloth simulation on their dresses looking great...the one thing I would improve would be his right hand to be closer in proximity to her body.
This can be accomplished by manually key framing and moving his right arm closer to her throughout the animation. I sometimes have to do this on any motion capture character moves since the motions don't always align well with the characters. If you do move his arm to be closer to her, you will most likely have to adjust all the key frames that correspond to that arm movement so that they are all the same.
My compliments on using two characters, it's not an easy thing to do well and you made them look so good! :-)

Thank you JohnnyM. I worked quite hard on the cloth physics because they kept catching each other. So the hands were left until last as I knew they would be difficult. I did the trailers to get an overall view of what worked and what didn't.
I hate doing keyframing especially with hand reach. Every time I keyframed the hands it messed up the spring bones, body position and sometimes the feet. But I have been working on it. I need to check how close the man's hand should be on the Tango, I can't remember if it's just a 'guide' or if his hand rests on her back like the waltz (which at the moment his hand keeps going through her body!). So a few more videos to watch to fine-tune as much as possible.
Thanks for your comment and invaluable feedback as always π

Hi, wow very nice compilation of different animations. Yes Iclone is the best for animation. As long as you don't use iray. The animations looked really good. What kind of render engine was that? I only know IC7 with internal and iray. Internally good for animation and looked relatively good (but just old engine). Anyway, it looks really great and almost makes me want to do something with iclone again :)

Thank you! Ironically all of these were rendered in standalone iray, but not as one whole animation. Just short pieces of the full ones which are still WIP. I found the camera work the most difficult. It's all just trials whilst I fine-tune the end results. I finally finished Donovan (Pt.1) just need to add credits. I've got a soft spot for Donovan as it is the one where I have experimented with camera work the most and am relatively happy with it.
I use iC8. The internal render is much improved to iC7 as it loads iray materials. So the quality is better if you make sure the settings are right. Nice thing about the internal render is that you can preview the entire animation and you will get an accurate image, whereas with iray standalone, even though you can preview the render, it really is hit and miss as to whether the preview is accurate. I tried both ways and just for once iray standalone did a relatively accurate job!
You can do some really nice animation in iC7, but I find iC7 a bit fiddly for animation but I fall back on it from time to time. Give it another go! π

Mind blown...so awesome!!! What is the final product? The choreography between music and dance is wonderful and the animation is very realistic!
Mediacandy
Thank you so much! The final animations will be sightly longer dance videos, but one is being prepared for something a little more in depth. The Tango and Line Dance need sets so they will probably take a bit longer to do.
I have quite a few adjustments to do on the waltz.
Perhaps I should make the last 4 a dance competition! Thank you again for your comment π

They all look great Mediacandy! Can't wait to see the final animations!
Mediacandy
Thank you so much! Ironically the waltz is turning out to be the easiest to fix. I have completed this part of Donovan and will be posting it up soon. There is a final, final animation of him that involves some of my other female characters - and a few extra blokes in there as well π

Nice work. All are good. I like tango and character Donovan best

Really fun animation! I love the dance steps. I read the other comments, and yes you should maybe expand upon this one.
Mediacandy
Thank you so much! There is a much longer sequence to the first dance. I've actually got a few ideas with what to do with that particular subject matter, but it will take time. Many thanks for your feedback and comment. It's always appreciated π

What a fantastic set of animations you've come up with here, each having its own fluid quality and rhythm. Above all, I can also sense the passion and time you've devoted to the job, and the outcome is just superb.
