there is something a little desperate in this scene, as if this man was trying to cheer up his wife (Whistler's mother). We interpret this scene as this man's desire to revive the presence of this woman who is only there in the form of a painting. However, a fantastic element seems to indicate to us that he is not entirely mad, since the portrait seems to have dropped a card on the ground.

J'ai bien aimé une petite vidéo sur les Joueurs de Cartes de Cézanne vue récemment à la télé, où ces derniers tentaient de sortir du cadre. Mais ce n'était pas du whist. Peut-être de la belote?
