Description
Hello, Friends,
I just wanted to post an update after my last upload. I’ll try not to make this too long….
I’m feeling better, and have an appointment lined up for June 6 with our FNP. We’ll see what she recommends and go from there.
One thing I’m feeling very strongly is that I’ve reached a kind of a turning point, and a number of things need to be re-arranged and re-prioritized. First thing I want to say; the TNA story WILL continue. I know the pages have been slow to appear of late – for many reasons. One of which is this annoying thing called “real life.” It seems to endlessly keep sticking its butt in my face. With stuff like this:
Monday, I sat down at my main computer as usual, all ready to work on the next TNA page. I started Poser up, and it just totally freaked out. And so did I. All kinds of windows opened up, shut down, error messages were popping up like popcorn in the microwave. “Can’t find this. Can’t find that. Can’t find the PZ file. Etc. Etc.”
I recently added a 10 TB external drive for all my Poser stuff, and when I clicked on the “My Computer” icon, that drive was missing! NOOO! All my runtimes are on there, all my Poser assets, and of course all my TNA stuff! I didn’t know whether to cry, run out into the street in front of a garbage truck, pray, scream, or poop my pants.
Thankfully, it was only a loose USB cable (more on that in a moment). The drive was back, and all files were safe. There’s now a second 10TB drive with a mirror of the first drive – just like I did with the drives that contain ALL my photos. It took TWO DAYS to copy everything to the second drive. Yes. I have a LOT of stuff…
About the image….
# 1: I am working on getting the massive disaster area otherwise known as my nonexistent cable-management skills into some kind of order. Tracing cables is presently an exercise in frustration. And it’s far too easy to dislodge a cable accidentally – and cause a freakout like above.
# 2: A look behind my main PC desk. I have since added a shelf unit I recently built, with a back panel of pegboard. You can see the back of it in # 6.
# 3: This is (was) a mystery panel in the wall behind the desk. It was used to control the attic fan, which is being removed soon. The panel has since been removed, and the wall will be patched. I wanted to get all the wall stuff taken care of before moving the desk back.
# 4: The folks that lived here previously had an intercom panel in the larger of these two holes. The smaller panel in # 3 has been removed and the wires removed.
# 5: The pegboard back of the shelf unit. It’s still a mess, but at least it’s somewhat manageable. Lots of power supplies – I have a LOT of external drives.
# 6: The gadget with blue lights at the top is an 11 – port powered USB hub. Below the hub is my network switch. As I said, still a mess, but it’s a continuing project.
In addition to this, I’m still fighting off this damn depression stuff, and keeping busy helps a lot to keep it in the background. I’ve got a ton of stuff to do with this house, as well as the continual searching and research on finding someplace we can afford, that isn’t surrounded by a bunch of mental-midgets with their obnoxious booming rap-crap rattling my windows. So if I disappear for a few days, I have not been kidnapped by space aliens or anything!
Thanks for reading and understanding. Stay safe, stay well, and keep creating!
Rod

i would think being abducted by said aliens could prove to be rather inspiring ;)
paddling in a nearby canoe to yours, inspiration has certainly been rather allusive of late, and like you, finding projects to take on and completing said tasks does in fact give other things a softer focus, not to mention it gives a good sense of accomplishment for a bit of positivity. and, let's face it, sorting your wires is prolly better than using them to strangle annoying neighbours as well...::giggle::

LOL! 🤣 Now there's a thought! But dang-it.. Some fool made that illegal! 😂
ladylake
OMG, and I thought my "little mess" of wires was bad. I bet your neighbors have been using your stuff and you don't know it. Cable ties and tags are a must, Rod. lol
Glad you are feeling a bit better and have this "project" to keep you busy. Good luck. :-)
eekdog
glad u r ok my friend. will be waiting for T.N.A. asap, best take care of yourself and Jo first. and man o man, what a freaking nightmare of wiring,. i still use the one you sent me years ago.crashes at times and restarts ok. i would never be able to route all that wiring at all to it's proper destination/ take care.
RodS
OMG..... That thing is still chugging along? Very cool!
Yeah, it's still a mess back there, but I'm making progress - I think! LOL
MagikUnicorn
Lots of stock :)
TwiztidKidd
I learned on Pinterest how to put the twist ties from bread on the wire bundles LOL!
Image 3... I've seen that before, there are small base low wattage light bulbs that's supposed to screw in those holes (sockets). It would be like an indicator light... that whatever that switch leads to it's on.
Good thing to do some cleaning, you clean up your space and feel good at the end of the day.
Have a fabulous weekend, Sir Rod!

That is an interesting tangle of wires. Staying busy is always the answer, when you're busy, you're not worrying about stuff that doesn't matter. Stay well, buddy.

Thanks for the update. That's quite a mess of wiring! I am very glad to hear that you're feeling better, though.

Lol @ Ladylake!!! 😊 It's nice to see that you are feeling better little brother!

Glad you are feeling a bit better, Rod, and that you are scaling back and prioritizing things. Now, I thought I had a wire jungle. Yikes, do you label those wires to know which one belongs to what?
STEVIEUKWONDER
I must confess to having been employed as a panel wireman for ICI years ago! I'd have that like a finished instrument in four hours! lol Take care Sir!

Glad to hear you're doing better and it looks like you have enough projects to keep your mind occupied for a while. Just take a break once in a while for some water, a look at the the sunset and to chat with the wife. Be well.

I have two computers and my office laptop, several hard drives, a network switch and more cables for other small computers wired here. There is even a secured network device for my spouses home office. I think I have some idea what you are facing. LOL My solution was that I use four main switches to turn on whatever I am working with. However, my 'solution' is not so well-organized (#5 & #6 well done) like yours, but rather well-hidden behind the desk. LOL
RodS
LOL! Well organized and well hidden is my ultimate goal... It might be done sometime around 2027..... 🤣

Hey that's a spaghetti special I should know I've had that in my work area before. Stay frosty my friend.

Power to your elbow, as they say. Keep on keepin' on! (Heath-Robinson would be proud 😉)

Damn that's a lot of wiring. But if wrangling it keeps ya busy, all to the good.
Radar_rad-dude
Your plate continues to runneth over my friend! I keep my fingers crossed that your troubles will soon dissipate an never bother you again! My mind went blank when I saw all the wiring you are trying to contend with!

IT'S ALIVE !!!! BWAA HAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA
RodS
It is! The damn thing tried to strangle me after your stream Saturday! 😂😆 I prevailed, though....
thartwick1
Glad you're feeling better, Rod. Glad your scare was only a loose cable. I've had a similar experience with my Poser libraries. Scary!
g1tip
That's a lot of cabling!!!! You must have been a telephone switchboard operator in a previous life. Keep on keeping on!!!!

Hi, wow, I thought my computer looked bad with the "tangled cables". The strange thing is that everything seems to work for me. The USB drive worked fine again. However, it is less suitable as a backup solution because USB is too vulnerable (especially in continuous operation). It is clear to me that this is certainly the only solution for many people. I come from IT and if you have a lot of important data you always make a backup (preferably several, so you always have something to restore). So backup, backup, backup ^^

Wow Rod, you have quite a lot of things going on in these images...my compliments to you for figuring it all out! :-)

I hope that things reach a point of normalcy that is to your liking. As for the bird's nest, I feel for you, I work in a Data Center and some of our clients' cages look like this. I wish you all the best.

The joys of electronics and life. If it is not one thing it is a dozen other things. That is a lot of wires hope you don't have any little critters around that like to chew on them. Good to hear some things are turning out ok for you and looking forward to see more of the adventures or TNA. Take care.
MajinBoo
Yeah, if the whole outer drive situation would have happened to me, I think a lot of people would have been hearing me scream. Glad it was simple and that you're doing better. Also, I love photo you posted in the Challenge Arena.
