There was a fascinating TV documentary comparing warriors from differing places and eras, for example an apache brave against a Roman gladiator. I believe it was called "Deadliest Warrior." I dismissed the premise was silly until I actually watched an episode and realized that the producers & writers knew exactly what they were about, consulting expert historians of warfare and coming to entirely plausible conclusions as to the likely victor.
I presume you saw the show as well; you've certainly come up with a contest worthy of the show.
