Description
The command crew waited patiently. Their faces delaying their uncertainty. They had never been dispatched with such clandestine orders before.
"All stop." The helm officer reported as he glanced back at his Captain. "We are at the precise rendezvous point."
"Maximum sensor sweep of this region." The Captain ordered, his eyes never leaving the view screen before them.
"Two targets approaching at maximum warp." The science officer called from his station. "Arrival time; two minutes."
"Target confirmation?" The Captain partially turned in his chair, glancing from the screen to the science officer.
"Just coming into sensor range for identification. Two starships," He then paused for a moment, his expression turning somewhat puzzled. Unidentified class, but starfleet in design structure."
The Captain swiveled back to fully face the screen. They waited.
The two vessels swept out of the darkness before them and came to a halt; holding motionless before them.
"And we wait." The Captain drew a soft breath. He studied the two starships closely, his eye roving over every detail that he could make out.
"A type of destroyer class." The science officer reported. "Identifying heavy phaser banks and multiple launch tubes on both.
"Hunters." The Captain nodded slowly. "We are to allow them first contact as per orders." He leaned forward ever so slightly. "But that doesn't mean we can't study them more intently."
