LadyLake was right. So I pulled out the chair. 😁😁

LOL. Well, if this is your idea of messy you should come to my home and take lessons. :-)))) A great image and now even better with just a touch of realism. ;-)
OberonRex
Perhaps in some idealized world, this might be my idea of messy. Sigh. In reality, you'd be lucky to be able to find your way around. But, you know, too much realism would be, um, f'king messy!
😁❤️😁❤️😁

I read the comments from the original post. This looks very nice. I am assuming that the second light is outdoors.
Is the lamp light set to constant or Inverse Square attenuation? It's difficult to determine light falloff with the lamp shade obstruction. If this is an enclosed room, I am wondering if HDRI outside illumination is a better choice for ambient lighting? It appears that lamp light is overwhelming the outdoor shadows.
OberonRex
The outdoor light is specifically intended to illuminate the outside foliage. Any interaction (and there is some) with the indoors in incidental. It's actually a point-source wall lamp, mounted on the outside wall, more-or-less above the easy chair. Well, not a point source as in a Point Source light, but rather a little ball placed inside the wall lamp, with emission strength and temperature dials for adjustment. Temperature set to be an incandescent light bulb, I think.
The lamp is using an actual Poser Point Source light, placed inside the lightbulb. So -- what does that get me? Constant or Inverse Square? The (old) student in me thinks that Inverse Square sounds like what I should have. Certainly doing a quick google suggests that it's what I would want. It's definitely what I studied in physics!
Could you tell me again how to set that up? Constand vs Inverse Square?
The room is (essentially) enclosed. I didn't bother with a roof and I left one wall down for ease of shooting.
I have no experience with HDRI illumination. Is that something that goes with IBL lights?
OberonRex
A bit of reading suggests that Inverse Square Falloff would be the default for my point source in the lamp. Which is what I'd want.
But I have no idea what my emission based outside light is doing. It does seem to falloff very quickly.
OberonRex
Okay, so setting Inverse Square for the desk lamp is pretty trivial! Found it... Now, how do I set that up for an emission based light source?
And, WOW, but using Inverse Square makes a HUGE difference!
OberonRex
Ah, I see that it's something to do with using a LightFalloff node. I would guess just connect it up to Color, but that's where I'm connecting a Blackbody node.

I'm reading... And experimenting...

I think I figured it out! Wow, eh? Even at my age I still have reading skills. Imagine.
hborre
I'm glad you're figuring it out. Drop me a site mail if you are stuck.

Hey, I think the lighting in the room is perfect!
OberonRex
Thank you, but check out the Relighted version, eh? Hborre pointed out that the lights weren't fading with distance as they should. And he was right. It had never occurred to me that default Poser lights wouldn't fade correctly. But they don't. Anyway, thank you for your comment, and I'm pleased that you liked it. 😊😊
