Description

See what happened before Silent Rebel (1). Just as she was considering her options for escape, a soft whirring noise caught her attention. From the kitchen's shadowed doorway, a small robot rolled into view. It resembled a moving round garbage bin, its metal casing scuffed and dented. The robot paused, its sensors locking onto Avia, then it spoke in a low, mechanical voice. "Follow me." Avia hesitated for only a moment. Trust was a luxury she couldn't afford, but neither was staying here. She glanced at the approaching soldiers, then back at the robot. Deciding it was her best chance, she grabbed her gun and discreetly followed the robot towards the back of the restaurant. The robot led her through a narrow hallway and into the kitchen, where the staff pretended not to notice. At the far end of the kitchen was a hidden door, partially obscured by a stack of crates. The robot activated a hidden panel, and the door slid open, revealing a dark passage. "In here, quickly," the robot urged. Avia slipped through the door just as the regime fighters entered the kitchen. The robot followed, sealing the door behind them. The passage was narrow and barely lit, the air cool and damp. The robot led her through a series of twists and turns, moving with surprising speed for its bulky form. "Who sent you?" Avia asked, her voice a whisper. "I am an ally of the rebellion," the robot replied. "My designation is R1-K3. The resistance has many eyes and ears, even here." They emerged into a small, hidden chamber. R1-K3 opened another door, revealing a dimly lit street far from the restaurant. Safe, for now. "You need to keep moving," R1-K3 advised. "The regime will not stop hunting you." Avia nodded, grateful for the unexpected ally. "Thank you, R1-K3." "Good luck, Avia," the robot replied, before rolling away into the shadows. With a final glance at the hidden door, Avia took a deep breath and disappeared into the night, ready to continue her fight against the dark regime.
