Hello, my Friends...
This is just a simple pin-up for your viewing pleasure, and an update on what’s going on in the (chaotic) life of Rod.
Firstly, my CT scan results were mostly quite good. From the report:
1. No acute abnormalities.
2. Mild cerebral volume loss and chronic white matter microvascular ischemia.
3. Small bilateral maxillary sinus mucous retention cysts.
I did some poking around on the ‘net to try and translate the medi-speak. I shouldn’t have. I looked up the “microvascular ischemia” bit and found a couple links. One of which said, “Life expectancy.” The report I read indicated five to seven years! That did NOT make me feel very good. Of course, that report was full of medi-speak, so I likely missed something in the translation. I sent a quick message to our FNP, and she replied she’d seen the CT results and there was nothing to be concerned about. I see her Friday to talk about the ischemia and get the complete rundown on the scan.
I really need to stop researching all these damn medical terms.
Then this recent weekend happened.
For some bizarre reason both my main Poser computer, and my main Photoshop computer decided Saturday would be a perfect day to give Rod a heart attack and mental breakdown. Both machines suddenly became so s…..l…..o…..w they were completely unusable. I ran scans for viruses (that was fun; waiting anywhere from 20 seconds to 3 minutes for something to happen every time I clicked a mouse button). I found no viruses, or evidence that I’d been hacked. WTF??
Same thing on my Photoshop machine.. What the HELL is going on?? I fought this for most of Saturday. Turned out to be a problem with MS OneDrive. There was a bunch of ‘invisible’ files – about 13,000 of them – clogging up the works. I was able to finally delete them, and the ‘puters are now working normally.
Then Sunday happened.
Jo got up, had a bite of breakfast, and sat down to enjoy some baseball games (she’s the sports enthusiast in the family). She punched the power button on the remote, and…. Nothing. Her TV to her is like my computers are to me. She was not happy! So…. I spent pretty much all-day Sunday trying to get things resolved on that front.
I researched when we bought it, and if we bought an extended warranty – and we did. And her TV shot craps 3 months after the warranty expired. Well, yay! That was after spending several hours farting around with Best Buy’s “support” site and chatting with their “support-bot” and finally – after about 20 emphatic requests to “chat” with a living, breathing, HUMAN – one of their “experts.” His name was Ahidhitned – or something like that.
Anyway, we ended up just getting another “smart” TV, taking it home and trying to program the #%%&^##^& thing. It was “smart” all right. A lot smarter than me..
I ended up taking it back to the store, as one of their ‘managers’ said he’d program it for me. It would be a $100.00 service call to have someone from “Geek Squad” come out to do it.
When I got to the store, I learned that the manager wouldn’t be back until Thursday. I was beyond pissed… But the young man that was helping me asked if we had the TV with us, which we did.
He then went above and beyond to get it all set up and programmed for us. Watching him was amazing. And after working in technology for 50-some years, I felt like a total noobie.
Then, when we got it home, it still took me several hours to get all the channels where they were supposed to be, and where it would work with the Comcast Xfinity interface. And it still needs work.
Then this morning, something changed, and it doesn’t work like it did yesterday. But it’s working well enough, so Jo said don’t worry about it now.
Then my phone (I’m still learning how to use the damn thing…) started displaying a screen demanding my PIN that had never been there before. WTF??
And of course, you can’t just pick up the phone and call the place where you bought something anymore. No. That would be far too convenient. Your two choices are:
1 – Log onto their website, spend 15 minutes finding where they buried “support,” open the convenient “chat-bot,” answer 20 – 30 questions that have nothing to do with the problem you’re having. If after another 30 minutes you ask to chat with an actual flesh-and-blood HUMAN, you get the extreme pleasure of chatting with someone named Ishkabibble – most likely in India – that barely speaks English. Same thing if you call their “help” number.
Or
2 – Get in the car and drive to the store and hope you don’t have to wait 4 hours to speak with someone in person. We went back and forth 4 times yesterday.
I chose the # 2 option today. It was a really pleasant surprise when I walked into the Xfinity store, and the guy at the front desk actually helped me rather than telling me they were booked up for the day (as it did on the website..). It’s now working normally again (for now).
This is the kind of insanity (called “life”) I’ve been dealing with DAILY for the last several days. It certainly doesn’t help much with my stress and / or depression issues.
Anyway… This has been a long one, and if you’ve read this far, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I’ll (hopefully) have some time to get back to the TNA story, and post more often.
Now, I have 5 or 6 days’ worth of comments to catch up on.
As always, THANK YOU all so much for visiting, for any comments you wish to leave, and for your wonderful artworks, and friendships!
Love you all!

Dang that is a bad run with no rest stops Rod. Today's tech is getting beyond me and I shudder at how unnecessarily complicated things can become with it. They just don't design it for us more refined people anymore...lol.
If I look up anything medical on the net I always take it with a grain of salt as the information is usually generic for the illness as we are all individuals and respond differently to things as a result.
Life is but one day at a time and there is enough to worry about in that 24hrs nowadays without adding to your stress. Here for you if you wish to chat my friend. Take care :)

They say all good things come in threes (like buses) and so, it seems, bad things also. And oh, the joys of 'press 1 to ...' and various strange accents ... There was the man who looked through a medical dictionary (before tv days) and found he had everthing except housemaid's knee. Went to the doctor who wrote him a prescription for steak and Guinness.

You should always read the medical reports with a large glass of poke them in the eye knock me down Rye and just a little ice mean while keep making your great art Oh! before I forget this is a great mage love those long legs

Yikes, disasters piled up for you recently, that's for sure! Glad you got the majority of it fixed. One tip; if you have as little to do with Micro$oft as possible things are generally a fair bit smoother. I used to work on an IT support team and we always told management that, though they rarely listened.
Long legs that gal has, if she's bored tell her to pay me a visit, I can find all sorts of things she could do to alleviate the boredom!

Technology is great when it works. Some things connect and are set up very easy and others you need a lot of patients and access to the internet to ask why something is not working. I just tried connecting a device to my new computer with the two USB's in the front for about 10min and it did not work. I then tried a USB connection colored blue in the back of the computer, and it connected no problem. The USB's in the front both work it just did not work for the device I was connecting. Blue USB ports are typically associated with USB 3.0 and higher standards, indicating their support for faster data transfer speeds.
Fabulous looking Adeline, lovely pose and outfit. Nice!

So far so good with the health check. As for technology, I learned to build my own computers and use no-frills mobile devices, to keep maintenance costs and downtime to a minimum.
It helps that I've been a digital native since the 8-bit era, and the aforementioned is just a natural progression of it.

Excellent ROD

Msoft can definitely shove that One_Drive mess....
and Lowe's Building Supply here will no longer give people a Veteran discount unless they complete the Real_ID run around that requires EVERY piece of personal information you have.
Making one's life more simple is getting much harder to accomplish.

Stay strong, Rod. I've been through alot myself during my cancer fight. Still in remission.
Fab work by the way!

What the heck have you done to piss off old Murphy ? ( ... that one from Murphys law, where everything that can happen will happen ... on a weekend) Here in old Europe we have the same problem with service desks not really being able to speak your language.
So, let's take a break and enjoy your render! Good work!

I refuse to speak to ANY far Eastern call centre. Principally, on many occasions, they are not too bright and the timbre of their voice is immensely irritating. They also talk too quickly. I have just re-wired and refreshed my extension cables feeding my two computers, so been pretty busy myself. Your health news sounds good Rod!

Glad to hear about the good health news. And sorry about the tech troubles. The more tech is involved in our lives, the more of a pain in the ass it becomes.

Doctor Google is notoriously bad at diagnosis. Probably best not to take what you google too seriously. And the call centers, sheesh, I have to talk to a guy in India to order a pizza from a place that is literally two blocks away.

i sent a note after seeing this, but it may not have gotten to you (due to your work with the computer, and then I got mine repaired and lost files myself)...I don't have a copy right now, but I just wanted to express relief about your head and neck, and empathy about everything else (and relief too that Jo was ok---that the problem was with the tv and not with her, though I was sorry about the tv and computer and invisible files)...I was on pain killers when I wrote it, so it's probably better if you didn't get it...just know I was sorry for your travail, but relieved for your health.
Then I read your most recent (Alora Chillin'), and I'm thrilled that you two were given a clean bill of health! And you've seemed to solve many or all of the problems you were dealing with before. I hope it continues, Rod, you two deserve it in spades.
The pic: You've captured your model perfectly-centered, and her dark reds are really fine contrast with that bright greenish-yellow background. I also reeeeeally like the light here: It's complicated, anything but flat, and casts all kinds of sweet subtle shadows everywhere.
Adeline looks a little shy, which makes her very human...and she's centered prefectly. The surrounding has an almost Wyeth feel, or even a Hopper feel---ie, simple shapes, those bleached yellows and greenish yellows, and the feel of an old new england home interior. Love the wall to wall seating with pillows...and how she lines up with the window. THere's gotta be a big window to our right, 'cause that's where much of the light is coming from; and I love that light (New England light). Also how your two mugs seem to be continuations of each other (!). I know it's not a TNA chapter (which is what you want to do), but it's a wholly balanced, classy portrait; and though I don't do 3D, I've been around long enough to know that there ain't a pic you show that hasn't contained all your fine-tuned sensibilities, etched into every line and space. Even your logo on the left hand carpet---gotta love it. I'm only here for a comment, this morning, but when I return I 'll catch up on a lot more. (I see everything regardless, haven't missed an image.) I'm just sorry I haven't been able to comment for a long while. I hope this time in your life continues, and wish you both all the inspiration and uplift in the world. Take care, Sir R---always a pleasure to be here! And I wish you and Jo all the best!
