Description
Procyon was about to leave this star system when a strange, unknown signal was detected coming from a local planet mere 40 million Km away, a world of no particular significance. According to records its equatorial region supported hostile primitive plant life, the rest was frozen wasteland, and the signal was eminating from the frozen region. Captain Flynt became extremely curious and joined the scout team.
The air was perfectly breathable, but at 53 deg.C below zero it was safer to use spacesuits. They began closing-in on the source, and what eventually came into view was astonishing. Before them, amid icy mountains, stood an enormous, dark castle-like structure. It appeared ancient and abandoned, yet many windows were glowing in warm orange light.
What Captain Flynt didn't know is that at this moment he should have turned back immediately and get far away, but foolishly he did not.

The Star Trek episodes covered just about every story imaginable, so it wouldn't surprise me if stories repeat as time moves on.

Beautiful crystal clear creation. Great story.
I encountered a similar situation on Mars on March 21st...gallery page 7, image "Command you gotta see this" so I'd really like to see how your story progresses.
