Description
The entire Procyon scout team was speechless.
They were facing a woman dressed in a long dark gown holding a wax candle, not unlike those that Captain Flynt had seen in historic vids and museums. For a long moment the woman gazed at them with hypnotic eyes, then, without a word, waved them inside.
After some hesitation they all cautiously stepped inside and the huge door clicked shut behind them.
Captain Flynt checked his data feed which indicated the air temperature to be a cool 14 deg C, nearly 70 degrees warmer than outside, and absent of any known toxins, then removed his helmet, as did everyone else. The first thing they noticed was an interesting aroma of very old wood and paper, then their eyes focused on the fascinating and intricate architecture.
Flynt turned to the woman and began by introducing himself and his team, then asked a question, but the woman suddenly spoke in an ancient English accent, "I must leave you now. Please feel free to meet others and make yourselves comfortable."
Flynt suddenly got a very strange and uneasy feeling, like something was off. But what?

He just now worked out that something was off, he's a shoe in for a job with the Secret Service ;)
I suspect she's a (She) "Q" from TNG.
I like the depth, the light play on the stones and the candle dividing the hues of color on her face from a warm lively flesh tone to a cold dark hue. I think the bad vibe Flynt is picking up on beyond all the unexplained physics of the situation is probably the unpleasant quality of whatever that littler strewn about the walkway consists of ... or consisted of.

Hehe! A Star Trek fan, huh? I myself watched every single episode ever, but don't have a big enough brain to recall them all, much less all the details. I also have no interest in copying any other story, but I do realize that similarities today are unavoidable unless you go to extremes like 'A toaster posessed by a demon kills a leader that starts WW3' :)
And your analysis is fascinating. If I was Flynt I'd be creeped out simply by that woman's lack of fear and mannerism.

My favorite are "Volcipastor" a Paster that transforms into a velociraptor to battle ninja, and Jurassic Tornado - a tornado that swoops through the Bermuda triangle and then starts dispensing dinosaurs in it's path. So I didn't mean to demean your efforts, like you I've seen all the Treks and I am anchored to a lot of those narratives.

Volcipastor? LOL! I suppose many people will always continue to enjoy funny n silly stuff. What's really difficult is to come up with a good story that not only starts well but ends well. I once read dozens of SF short stories from the 1940's and 1950's and they were better than most stuff shown in films today. Perhaps they don't use all that old material because today's audience is so unsophisticated and dumbed-down that they would reject it.

First off SydneyKeys is an intriguing intricate eloquent person is she not, who will definitely keep you on your toes, well she certainly does with me. :-) Secondly, I love the story and image...two for the price of one, win win me thinks.

I'm happy to hear that!
Also, I think I'm starting to like Sydney, even if she might be an android or an alien.
